This was in the first group of pictures I took with my D5100, it was taken at my daughter's homecoming.
Would like to know what you like and don't like so I can improve, thanks

I like the lighting you captured but the shoulder of the other person is a bit distracting. Might want to leave a bit more room above the head also. Exif data?? Also curious what lens you used.

Back lighting on the hair and the soft light on the face are really nice in my opinion. I would crop in more and move the main focal point of the image out of the center of the frame.

Right off the bat, I can think of 3 different ways of cropping this that would make it stand out. That shoulder is distracting and shouldn't be in the shot at all. The lighting is gorgeous.....leave that alone. Focus is great.....don't touch!

This is just one way I would have cropped it. Tell me what you think.

I agree on cropping so she is not center framed. Having your subject off center while looking towards an empty space creates a much better composition.

I tried to reply to this earlier but I don't know what happened it didn't work for some reason.

Note how in Jack's crop she is now looking into the frame as opposed to looking out of the frame...that sort of thing is easier on the mind and eyes. It is a good snap of an absolutely lovely young lady. :)

I was afraid to crop it to much. After seeing how you have done it, I see it was unfounded.
I like this a lot better, thank you
