D7100 gripped with MBd15 from nikon is just soooo comfy! In fact when I shoot weddings and I am staying out of the priests way i know i will need my 70-200 and i dont like crop mode on the D800E cause its 15mp, where as the D7100 is 24mp in 1.5x crop mode, and its more comfy and shoots a bit faster. So the D7100 is a must have.

I'm not sure if you guys know this or not but the sensor in the D7100 is actually the cropped version of the D4X sensor.

48.3mp x 1.5x crop = 24.1mp

Which is why I am amazed at the D7100 and its low light capabilities since the micron size of the pixels are smaller than the D800E!

Chief Financial Officer, sometimes referred to as "She Who Must be Obeyed".. More commonly, The Wife!! :)
I could probably get a 7000 out of her but I am not sure if I would regret not getting the 7100 down the road.

The 5100 is working well, I will just go back and dream!! :)

D7100 is cheap. :)

I wanted to let you guys know I just sent Corey a private message telling him want I am planning to shoot this week. Because of time and weather restraints I have to post late Sunday. I'm afraid some else is going to have the same idea as I have and don't want anyone to think I'm coping their shot so I'm telling everyone now to avoid any potential conflicts later.

Sorry Corey you are totally out to lunch on that one. The D4 sensor is it's own creation. When you get a chance shoot a D4 then compare. I know I have both cameras( my wife loves her D7100) I agree the D7100 is good much better than some of it's siblings or rivals. With my D4 I can get usable shots at 25,600 ISO and higher because of the pixel density over the large sensor(16.2 mps) as compared to 24.5mps on a cropped sensor of the D7100. The D4 sensor is made by Nikon. The D7100 sensor is made by Sony or Panasonic.

Nothing personal Corey (or Sam or Glenn)...I just wish I could be like all you high rollers...of course I would choose a Leica M240 instead of a Nikon...lol

Rick, I for one say not to worry... I would never question your integrity on that... I have a similar issue with weather and time.. My main shot was tomorrow and gonna be blown by the storms.. Gonna be tough after that with weather and other commitments for Memorial day..

Good luck with your shot, it always turns out well.. :)

Thanks bro. I agree I did work my rear end off LOL. I also have a wife who is fully supportive and helps also. When I first got started back in 1998, my mother was fully supportive as well. It takes time, but if you want it bad enough you can have anything.

Not too familiar with the leicas. I wouldnt mind a hassleblad HD60 tho LOL

The Hassy is to big and the Leicas are way over priced so maybe Nikons do really have a place in the world...and Pompeo Posar was the luckiest man to ever live on Earth I think...well maybe not...let me think about that one some more...LOL :)

Hey Corey you do good work, it a tough business these days with everyone who buys a P&S thinks they can shoot weddings etc. A person needs to standout, be different & creative, you are doing a great job on all fronts. Your work is excellent keep it up. I am strictly an amateur never want to go pro, that would take the fun out of it for me. I have other means to make a living. Corey my intention was not to bash you or discredit you, it was my 2 cents worth to a couple comments you made. Please don't take it personally - we should be able to share ideas and facts without starting a nuclear war :)

Thanks Sam. I agree. I am not upset everyone is allowed to have their opinions :) and speak about their feelings on certain situations.

But My comment about the D7100 was basically that the possibility of a D4x with 48.3 mp is very, very possible. I know that sony made the D7000 sensor, and all the D3xxx, and D5xxx models. The D800/E, D4, D3s, D3x, D3 and pro bodies are all made by Nikon.

I thought the D7100 was made by Nikon this time around, at least that is what I read. What do you think about the D4x, as I am sure you agree that no matter what the specs actually are, its coming really soon. Probably in the next 3-4 months.

Who makes Nikon sensors is a very secretive deal...you have to tear them apart to find out...who the hell in their right mind would tear a D4 apart just to find out who made the sensor??? Do they even know who made the sensor for the D800? I wonder who helped Leica make this new 24 MP job they have now...Kodak of all people made the last one...go figure invent the camera for all intents and purposes, make the greatest slide film ever(kodachrome), invent the first digital camera period (in 1975 I think), build the great M9 sensor (a few warts but very good), and then fold??? WTF??? But alas I digress from the thread topic like I always do...

Did you all know that Cynthia and Hef did the underage thing before Traci and Bob did? ;)

Yes I agree, there is something in the wind for sure. I heard a 56mp sensor 7fps, 2 crop modes 36mp,25mp both those with blistering 14fps ISO 50-128,000 touch screen LCD. I say they will announce it in Sept. 2013. It's going to be exciting alright cause now we are invading medium format territory :)

I agree on the medium format territory. I always say this. The hassleblad HD40 has slightly better dynamic range and resolution than the D800E. The D800E however has WAY better ISO performance in low light, and can pull shadow detail in ways that the hassleblads could only dream of. So for $3k. The D800E is the king daddy of medium format.

For me and you a hasslelblad would be a overpriced rip off, because all we would gain is some resolution, a little dynamic range but it would come at the cost of almost NO ISO performance at all, and a pricetag that is 10x more than the D800E.

D800E > HD40.

Do you agree?
