Eyecup problem

Does it stop you pressing the menu button with your nose? That's the issue I have with the D7100!

I end up pressing "Menu" then the screen lights up and distracts me!

I use my left eye and have the Hoodman with the "long" piece pointing left. It certainly stops me from inadvertently pushing any buttons with bits of my body as it keep your face a little away from the body. With the D7100 it does obscure the top of the screen a tad but that has no impact on menu selection. On the few times I look at a snap on the screen (or want to show it to someone else) I just slide it off. My camera travels in my rucksack with with it off as there is precious little room in its secure cubby hole for such a protuberance in place. I strongly recommend this eye thingy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with their face smashing up against the screen and/or pressing buttons when looking through the standard eyepiece. I have no idea why camera manufacturers don't just design it so that the eyepiece extends out a little further so that it's not even with the screen.

Me too. Sometimes I have no idea WHAT button I have pressed but I manage to press something on occasion.

If you want to keep it all-Nikon, there's the Nikon DK-22 adapter that will allow you to mount a round Nikon eyecup and eyepiece. I have this coupled with the DK-17A anti-fog eyepiece and DK-6 eyecup on my D3200.

I don't think this combination sticks as far out as the Hoodman, so it may not work if you want more of a gap between your face and the camera body.

Thanks but I already ordered and received the Hoodman and it's basically what I was looking for. It's going to take a little getting used to but it does stick out a little further than the LCD screen so you can rest your eye on it without completely pressing your face/nose against the camera. It also blocks out ambient light really well which will be a plus on bright days.

You may find that it is very hard to remove. Hoodman put a little lip an the bottom to lock it in place, i filed mine down, have dad no problem with it coming off.
