Exposure preview.

There's something going on and possibly simply a matter or disabling or enabling something but I can't find anything in the manual. I take 30 second exposures all the time so the length shouldn't be the problem.

This prevents me from taking longer exposures. I could use Bulb but keeping the button pressed during exposure isn't the best idea unless I buy a cable to activate the shutter.

According to the D610 manual Time mode requires the use of the ML-L3 remote, but the D750 doesn't seem to have that restriction. True to the manual, I cannot use it on the D610 unless I'm in remote release mode, but the D750 works fine for me as described - press the button once and the shutter opens, press it again and it closes. Now while I suspect that the minute movement you'd get on the two presses of the shutter during a 10-15 minute exposure are barely perceptible, I'd still want to use some type of remote release with it.

I'll have to look into this since mine did something funny. It could have been the battery or something else.

I pressed the button, stood back and each time it closed again after seconds. According the manual it could not be easier; press and press again when done. I'll fully load the battery and try again. I don't need to go out to do that.

Thanks, I now know it isn't normal and nothing special has to be done to enable it.

Mystery solved.

I tried again and each time the exposure ended about 10-15 seconds into it and when checking the shot info it displays 1/6 for shutter time. After trying some possibilities it turns out the cause is using "time" in combination with "mirror up". When I set the cam to single shot, all works as intended.

If this is mentioned in the manual I probably overlooked it.

In M-up you have to press the shutter button Twice to start the shot. If you press it once then the mirror moves up on the first press and the shutter opens on the second. Even in live view it drops the mirror first and then moves it up again on the first press. Just tried it on mine and the same thing happens on one press after a few seconds the mirror goes back again.

Two presses to start the shot in Mup work fine .

I'm not really using MuP any longer for night shots but that was the reason it didn't work. Once you know it is easily "fixed".

When I use MuP I always let it take the shot itself. I didn't know this would not function with time.
