I just got my refurb 24-120mm delivered last night and I was surprised to see that the normal 5 year warranty card was in the box with it. I would have thought that a refurb lens coming from Nikon would not have included this paperwork, but it was wrapped up just like every other brand new Nikon lens I've ever purchased. If you had handed me the box and asked me if it was new or not I wouldn't have been able to tell you it wasn't. There's nothing inside or outside that leads me to believe it was refurbished.
So, for anyone who has purchased refurbs before, is this what has happened in your experience? I'd be more than happy if the retailer shipped me a new lens instead, and I was able to register it with NikonUSA with no issues, though I suspect they don't do serial number checks. For some reason I thought refurbs were shipped in white boxes.
BTW, not to derail my own thread but NikonUSA has the worst login protocol on the planet - it knows who I am since I'm logged in already, but it still asks me for my email address when I go to register a product, and after I enter it I'm then asked to enter it again along with my password.
