Even gangsters live in fear of Japan's gun laws

Interesting article. Why would you miss carrying when it is like this? If even the bad guys are having second thoughts about owning guns or even using them, what would be the point in carrying? This just shows you that Japanese society is not as paranoid as some other societies on this planet. There does not seem to be a fear of "black helicopters" or "tyrannical governments" that is so propagated in some countries. Paranoia and fear that stems from certain delusional groups or beliefs is what breeds such a misguided and insane gun culture on this side of the world.

That's a little heavy handed to me. I have owned all kinds of guns and continue to do so. All my firearms are registered & safely stored. When I was younger and shooting competitively I would go through 10,000 rounds of .45acp a year. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot. Yes people kill people and guns make it easier, by so do bombs, knives, poison etc. If a person is crazy and desire to kill, they will find a way to kill people regardless of what they use to do so.

Interesting - I knew guns were illegal in Japan, but didn't know any of details surrounding it.

As for guns, you can walk the streets with airsoft and no one would like twice.
Try this in the USA, UK or Australia and you can bet you will have half the police force rocking up with everything they could find in the armory.

Remove the USA from your above statement and you would be more accurate. Not only do the overwhelming majority of our states have Concealed permits... many have open carry laws. If I recall corectly... only the state of Illinois is a 'rights denied state' (My internet is slow and cant bring up the website.)

As far as it being an airsoft... just dont point it at someone and you would not be treated as though you were carrying an actual firearm.

Not starting an argument... just correcting an oversight.

Perhaps these days, after what has occured in the last year, anyone besides a police officer openly carrying a gun (real or not) near a school would set of alarms.

Here is a link to the open carry law and the states that allow it:

Non LEOs are not allowed to carry in vicinity of schools anyway. CC or open carry.
This also applies to national parks (unless special ruling), federal bldgs, or any place that you can purchase & consume alcohol.

I wouldn't necessarily trust Wikipedia as a source on anything. Not always as accurate as one would like

A better site would be http://www.usacarry.com/

I live in the wild wild west. It is nothing to see a half a dozen short white men a day walking around with pistols strapped to their sides. It always seems to be short white guys for some reason??? It is so comical... LOL

I wouldn't want anything to do with an airsoft gun...that would get you killed by some overzealous vigilante around here.

I mean come on do you really need your Glock on your side for everyone to see when you go to Autozone to get some spark plugs for your truck? Little pp = high capacity automatic pistol on display LOL

It all sort of reminds me of when I was a kid and all the rednecks around here carried their deer rifle and their shotgun on a rack in the back window of their truck. I presume that is how many unregistered weapons got into the hands of criminals.

There is a famous pultizer prize winning photograph of a Japanese man using a samurai sword to dispatch some politician in front of god and everyone. I'd rather be shot than die like that guy did.

Maybe this is why I like a Holster camera bag, cause I'm a short white guy :)
