Happy birthday,no 300mm and converter then:D

Sadly not :( I did get a wacom intuos tablet and some money from relatives which has gone into my lens fund. Off out now with my new gopro on a joby tripod to try and get some close up red squirrel footage.

You're probably right. Will have to get some Nikon stickers for it or something, might be enough to fool a squirrel. The female squirrel on the stump in the background was impressed at all.

A short video of a special evening watching a couple of reds squirrels, they even came up to take peanuts from the end of our boots.

Apologies for it being GoPro and not Nikon but its my thread so I figure I'll post what I want. This is also my first attempt at putting different clips together and adding a backing track. Hope you like it.

Just back from a 3 week holiday in Australia and New Zealand and I'm fighting the jet lag by going through some of my pictures.

This is my favourite of the first few I've looked at, mostly because it didn't look like much on the LCD screen but came to life with a bit of processing.

I have lots more to look at so will upload them as I go here and to various other albums.

I really wish I could have shot these differently but a moving ferry and low light left me no choice other than wide aperture and very high ISO. I still like the light and feels of these even if they are grain and not even remotely sharp.

Sydney Opera House, tried to get something a little different, was on a moving ferry so didn't have a chance to try different settings etc. but I think this works.

Nankeen Kestrel - wish I had better light as I've never been this close to a raptor before.

Not 100% sure what type of Skink this is, possibly an Eastern Water Skink. After a very patient approach including a bare foot walk across a freezing stream I was able to get to within a foot of this guy, was actually one of my favourite moments of my holiday. Whilst everyone else was off on a hike, I was just sitting by a beautiful pool with frogs croaking in every direction and a friendly skink for company.

We went on a Whale watching trip from Sydney. We saw quite a few Humpbacks but unfortunately the two we followed for the most part were doing their best to stay away from the boat. We did see two males in the distance putting on an incredible display, with both fully leaping from the water and slapping their fins and tales for all they were worth. That would have given me the photos I dreamed of but they got shy as soon as our boat and others got near.
