Thanks Barbara, feel free to re-work my photos anytime. I think the crop definitely helps to identify the subject of the photo being the house.

I guess in my original composition I was trying to convey a sense that the house is being engulfed by the forest.
I figured that was what you were trying to convey. It still looks like it's being engulfed by fauna but I think it focuses on the house a little more. I still like those clouds and did not want to lose them.

I always feel funny editing someone else's photo. We all see things differently.

Monochrome March - Day 12

Busy day at work today so I thought i'd do a little table-top photography in the evening.

Yes, I remember that photo.

With two kids under 4, we definitely have an abundance of toys to choose from. It's getting harder each day to keep up with my daily shot, and hopefully my 'fillers' won't appear too often, but when they do chances are they will feature some sort of children's play thing :)

For me, it's cat photos for filler. I figure people do get sick of seeing my cats who love being photographed, especially the orange & white one.

Monochrome March - Day 13

"Waiting for mum"

I noticed a ray of sunshine coming through the back window and hitting the opposite wall. I then noticed my son's shadow on the wall and started clicking away.
This isn't exactly what I saw in my mind's eye, but its as close as I'm going to get today.

Monochrome March - Day 14

Due to an emergency at my regular station, all trains were diverted to an alternative station. I took it as an opportunity to grab my daily pic.

I have shot this station before, but made an effort to capture a very different shot.

Monochrome March - Day 15

With the Melbourne Formula 1 GP underway this weekend, the Royal Australian Defence Force Roulette arial performers were on display. This was the view out my office window. I had just enough time to grab my camera out of my bag and snap off a couple frames before they were out of site.

Monochrome March - Day 17

My son Alex had his birthday last week, but because we were away for the weekend, he couldn't celebrate with family and friends. So we held a birthday party for him this weekend.

And one of my nephew on the trampoline. I wanted to get wider but it wasn't a very big trampoline.

Monochrome March - Day 18

After the last few weeks, and our record breaking heatwave, it was a shock to come into work this morning in almost complete darkness. It was a cold rainy morning and I just couldn't resist getting the camera out.

I'd say so. It was a pretty wet morning.
This is actually a HDR (if you couldn't tell) which might have accentuated the reflection a bit.

I think your thought of having this month dedicated to monochrome has definitely helped. Certainly the monochrome shots look better with each passing day.
Great job David

Thanks Whitelight. Very nice of you to say so. Although, I'm planning on doing a couple selective colour shots this week. Hopefully this doesn't disappoint.

Day 78 (19/03/2013)

Monochrome March - Day 19

I had planned to do a selective colour shot today. I had an idea of the scene I wanted to capture, and actually shot what I thought would be my daily picture. On the way back, I came across this scene and thought I'd take a couple snaps before walking out. I preferred this shot, simply because I thought it worked better as a selective colour shot.
