Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

Old Railroad bridge built in the 1820. It was a toll bridge and was a double decker. Rail on top and street car on bottom. The bridge was in use till 1988 for trains and removed the end of the bridge that was use for boat traffic then. You can now walk over the portion that is left which is about half a mile long across the Tennessee river in Florence Alabama. The second picture is what we saw at the end of the bridge.

Tell me what you think it is.

Thats a diving spot for a skinny dipping swimmin' hole and the drawers is hung on the tree so's you'll have to jump in to get them back!

Thats a game we used to play back in the middle of the last century when I was a young'un.

I like that. Is the replacement on the left edge of the frame?

Re: Don's Daily Dabblings

I love the cave photos. Thanks for sharing.

I love caves and am still trying to figure out how to shoot them. These were a very high ISO some up to 12,800 so not ideal. I am going to use the SB-700 the next cave. Going to have to research shooting with flash in a cave to see how I want to do that. I think that bounce will work in many parts, direct on some of the long shots. Thinking a dome diffuser might work pretty good to so going to order one.

Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

Are long exposures out of the question?

Pretty Much they are. Most caves are difficult to walk in so carrying a tripod would be very difficult. Also you are in dark areas with many people moving around. Tripping hazard. So you are stuck with hand held. This cave was darker than most because the cut the light levels to reduce moss and mold growth.

I am glad I enjoy a challenge.

The original person that explored the cave extensively was a photographer that bought the cave and then opened it to the public. I have been trying to find some of his old photos.

In 1995, Cathedral Caverns provided the cave settings for the Disney Studios film Tom and Huck starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Tom Sawyer and Brad Renfro as Huckleberry Finn.
Archaeological excavations at the mouth of Cathedral Caverns have indicated occupation by Native Americans as recently as 200 years ago and perhaps as early as 7000 BCE.[SUP][2][/SUP]
