Do you carry your camera everywhere or just sometimes ?

Thanks partially to this thread, and the lack of good subjects near my home....I have begun to take my camera with me most of the time....I'm always looking for a good shot!

I take mine with me every where, 99% of the time. I take it to work everyday. I usually carry it with my 24-70 mounted on the camera itself and have two other lenses in my sling. Spare battery, CF wallet, rocket blower, lens pen and wipes. That's about it. My normal daily carry bag. Sometimes, I will take a walk during my lunch hour since I work downtown, and there is always something interesting to shoot downtown. (Even though the sun is usually directly overhead at that time). EVERY single time that I don't have my camera with me, I find a really interesting shot that I missed because I didn't have my camera with me. :D

I'll add that it is interesting to observe people's reactions to seeing you carrying a camera, especially in an office building. Most of the time, it provokes conversation. People will ask if I am a photographer (to which I tell them "no, not professionally. Only a passionate hobbyist"). I have actually encountered people who seemed to get visibly nervous at the mere sight of me carrying a camera. I am still trying to figure that one out.

Maybe those folks are the type that believe taking a picture of someone steals their soul. I think that would sufficiently make me nervous. ;)

Didn't anyone ever tell you not to take a camera into the locker room?!! ;)

I only take the camera out if I'm taking pictures, do not take it to work, do not want the camera to get damaged, I have a cheap point and shoot camera to take with me to work, so always ready (when I can) to take a picture.

180,000? Less than 3000 where I live. I suppose that is why most of my pictures are of animals. :D

But to answer your question, yeah I generally take my camera with me when I go out. One of these days I'm bound to be out and see a UFO or honest politician and will want my camera handy.

Better chance with the UFO! Unless you vote for Wavy Gravy!
