Day 30/365!!

Taking the D610 for a spin. Bad indoor lighting, so testing out the HIGH iso.

This was shot at iso 5000. Holy Cow. I cleaned it up a bit....but at anything over iso 3200 with my D90 everything looks like it comes from an Etch A Sketch.

Uh.....SURPRISE!

I asked a bit in the D800 forum. My original plan was for the D800. But I sat down and had a long talk with myself. Made a list of wants and needs. After all was said and done....the D610 won out.

I'm gonna need you to quit posting these amazing pics with your new toy... it's already hard enough to save up for the planned D7100, and now you're tempting me to try and make a "double down" move! :p

I was looking at a new lens. But I also knew I was going to make the jump to FX some day too. So I just bought the D610 with the kit lens. So....i kinda did get a wide angle too!!

To be honest, if you know you are going to make the jump to FX. I would just bite that bullet. I pretty much blew my budget for basically this whole year on the D610. And I have absolutely no regrets. The kit lens actually is performing quite fantastic. And the true 24mm is outstandingly awesome.

And the only reason I say to bite the bullet as soon as possible is just because how I feel. My heart was telling me FX. So even though the D7100 is a great DX body....for me the D90 is still a great DX body. I didn't want two DX bodies. But that is just my thoughts on the subject. And it's just what worked for me.

If it wouldn't add another year to the "plan", I probably would, but I view it like this: As the side business grows, the D7100 makes a good pro-sumer product, then when I step up to full frame, it makes a high quality backup. If I dive right in to the D610, all I have for backup is the D3100, which is quite a change.

Never know, though. I might fall into a good portrait rhythm when the warmer weather starts up again, and perhaps... :) I'd do a backflip to get one, for sure!

Stick to the plan. I don't have a plan. To be honest I am still in an early learning stage. I only bought the D90 in March of last year. And I had to opportunity to go FX and took it.

Now begins a new learning phase. Then I will make the plan and go from there.

Right now I am focused on learning the basics and grilling them in.

So no specific plan what to use FX for?
e.g. DX for me would remain for wildlife and races; FX would be for static subjects, landscape, events, portraits and macro.

Nah. No plan on a business model. Just learning photography in general first and foremost. The FX is for better low light and landscape. My D90 is for wildlife and such.
