@Danno Thank you.

I am trying a few things to see what works for me. I changed a couple settings, so I wasn't fluctuating so wildly. I had highlights under better control today. Which metering mode are you using?

I tend to use a single point metering because that gives me the best exposure around the bird, but now that I have cleared out so much of the brush around the perimeter I think I will have to experiment with a matrix metering.

I also use this approach at the church where there is a lot of lighting variation the single point works most for me because I do not want to lose the person under the bright light.

Isn't the wren the blue gray gnatcatcher, looking at it on my phone with one eye, still have that piece of crap in my other eye. Lol.

I took a series of these types of images at the Golden Gate bridge a while back. I didn't have time to really set-up and think about what I was doing. (I also didn't know as much as I do now-note low shutter speed.. oops) However, I got a few images that I really liked. I don't often point my lens at people, but everybody there was having a great time.

I really liked the way this man was posing with the bridge.
