welcome to California lol

next you will be "all shook up"

LOL. I sent a text to my brother, he told me to put out some fish and meat so I can smoke them.
Here it is fire and quakes, in Texas it is hail, lightning, straight-line winds and tornadoes, in LA it is floods, tornadoes and hurricanes.

Scary day today. We were under a voluntary evacuation notice. I heard helicopters an planes flying over all day, which after a while can be unnerving. They were dumping water on the quickly advancing fire. Looks like most of what I could see from my street that was more northerly is mostly smothered with one hot-spot that keeps spiking. The area below the Ortega highway is glowing.

This was the view from my driveway after midnight. I can still hear a few helicopters, but it doesn't sound like an air-strike any longer.

I understand. And thank you for your concern. We are ok over here so far.

I wasn't initially worried, just watchful, because we are east of the mountainside neighborhoods, but I started to get concerned yesterday when we got the voluntary evacuation notice for our district. (Embers can travel a mile and set your house on fire.) Later, it was made more specific to the mountainside area, which does not include me. I am on the far border of that district.

The fire crews were working themselves to exhaustion because of this fire and have done a great job.

Almost 18,000 acres so far have been affected in the Cleveland Forest and is only 5% contained. We are in a zone of convergence that is pushing the fire downhill rather than uphill, which is why all of the canyon neighborhoods are in danger.

There is a suspect who has been arrested for starting the fire. He is somewhat unhinged and had made threats before the fire started. He also accused firemen of stealing his money.

It isn't over, the mountains are still burning and the winds keep making the flames flare-up.

The view from my driveway is much less spectacular. There are some burning areas, but not the flare-ups like last night, also what is there is obscured by smoke.
I did see a creepy glow from behind the house across my street. This is what is there. I can't stay out for very long, the smoke is giving me headaches and is starting to affect my respiratory system a little.
