Was thinking about you out there shooting while watching the golf at Torrey Pines last weekend.

No way! There are literally 2 ways into Torrey Pines and the hill is not that big to begin with so anyone not willing to sit an hour or two in crazy traffic avoids that place like the plague. As a side note, the glider port butts up against the south end of the golf course. It's probably one of the most beautiful golf courses in America and is the only public golf on the PGA Pro tour (....I think).

There are a couple others open to the public (Bethpage Black on Long Island and Pebble Beach come to mind). It used to be the only reasonably affordable one but my understanding is that's changed in recent years. I had a couple opportunities to play it but on each occasion (always in the late fall) they had aerated the course to prepare for the tournament in February and I didn't want to spend the money to play a course full of holes just for the view.

The gliders were a constant backdrop during the golf. It's one of my favorite places along the left coast.

Although the sunset got clogged up with the marine layer, I did find a new cool spot to sunset hunt.

Had you posted this 3 days ago it would have pushed me over the top on the 14-24mm before I head off to FL, but alas (and thankfully) it's too late to get it in time. Though I can always have it shipped to my parents... LOL

piperbarb had a good suggestion to turn my South Bay Power Plant implosion into a running movie. So here it is...

Interestingly, I didn't enhance that pattern in the sand, this is pretty much the way I found it. I did use a red filter to bring out the sky which may have popped some of the contrast of the sand but for the most part, that's the way it looked.

Gob-smackingly amazing!

I don't know if you do this as a profession, but I hope you are selling these. In the last few weeks your images have been faultless!!!

Once again, I can only stare and applaud. Wonderful shots, Dave.

Thanks Jake. But truth be told, I keep getting fooled by mother nature. Seems nearly every day right around 3:30 - 4:00 there will be these awesome high level clouds and I get myself convinced that the sunset will be one of those epic fire-red sunsets. So I'll jump in my truck and run down to the coast and find the perfect place to set up only to watch the sun be gobbled up by the marine layer. :( And I KNOW that one day I choose to ignore those afternoon high clouds there will be an epic sunset display with more colors than my camera can register....it's the way of the world.

Visited the arboretum this morning to capture some flower images. Before focus stacking, I didn't much enjoy flower photos because only parts were in focus, even when I would stop down the lens at f-22. But now with stacking, flowers are back on the menu....so to speak.

105mm; f-8; ISO-100; compilation of 9 individual images.
