Darn Raw Compatibility

In my desire to reduce the number of laptops, I loaded my work Laptop with ViewNx, but,, it must have been an earlier version.

I tested it of course,, and it downloaded my D800 onto,, so,, seemed to be ok,, even looking at properties..

So,, came back and tried to open the raw on my other computer, and NOPE,, darn software complained of an unsupported RAW format. DAM!

NX2 will open the files, but will not store out NEFs, and in JPEG, reduces the files to useless size. from 300 DPI to 72.

Still trying different things, but sure is irratiting that the format got skewed up.

Luckily, the Jpegs are decent now, so I am doing my edits on the JPEGs.

I just got a D600, and I'm pretty sure it had the latest version of NX2 V2.3.1, and it works with the D600. You want me to ship you the CD? lol. I have it on my MAC, but it comes with the Windows Version too.

The latest version is 2.7.2 for both Mac & Win. It is available at Nikon's Website as a free download. Install it on both computers and you should be good to go.

too late now, the older version of the ViewDX already ruined the Raw files. even if I load the RAW into my latest correct version of NX, it won't convert to a correct format.

Do you have backups anywhere else? External hard drive, file server, SD card. If they are still on the SD card, they should be fine. It only reads the files off the card. There is no conversion of the files that are still on the card.

Since I took around 20-30 G of photos a day, I backed up the files each day onto my work laptop and the portable. and then reset for the next day shoot. only the final day shoot was still on the camera, in which when I reloaded back home on what was a later copy of viewNX, the those RAW files were fine, but unfortunately for the other 9 days of photos, those RAW files have limited value unless I find some program that unlocks,

I have tried all my versions of CaptureNX, Coral, Bibble, and Adobe, to no use,

but,, luckily JPEGs are not that bad on a D800, so,, will most likely have to be satisfied with them.
