D9300 to be the D300s replacement? (D400)

Seems a little close to April 1st. And D9300? Why not D300x or just D310? I dunno...just seems odd.

Nah, think as someone stated earlier that they are making their product line more logical, the 4digits being their dx lineup.

Edit: And it's still just a rumor, if it gets official it might be with a different name, f.ex d9000 or whatever they fancy these days

Should be interesting to see what the specs are. I've believed all along that Nikon didn't release a D300/s replacement because Canon didn't have a 7D replacement, or vice versa. Now we'll see the D9300, 7D II and a Sony A77 II. Or not. Rumors are so much fun...

Price speculation, could a pro Dx out price the entry level Fx? I don't think Nikon will do that. I'll put it at $1699 (us), a $500 premium over the D7100.

Possibly, if the DX sensor is placed in a D4S body to include all the bells and whistles of the D4S. Such a move could possibly draw a large number of canon shooters to nikon.

Bill...I have the D610 and D7100... Go FX and don't look back....The pro-dx will probably be so close in price to the D610 that it would only make sense to skip it and go fx...

This is what put question marks in my head.
I get the reasoning DXXX for FX and DXXXX for DX, wait and see though ...
From the D7000 I had in mind to complement with a second hand body later, till now that would be a second hand D800E or maybe D6X0 or Df; so FX seemed obvious.
Now with a possible high end D9x00 DX body I´m not convinced anymore.

FX: Different use of the 50mm and 70-200mm which would give a FOV that can be used closer.
=> I´m convinced that for portret the closer use of the 70-200 would give better results; however that is not my favourite theme.
DX: I keep the multiplication factor, I can use all the lenses I have.

My internal questioning is that I´m not convinced that the portret advantage of FX (using lenses with less deformation issues, like a 85mm or 105mm) can not be solved with Lightroom lens corrections, for my usage. So if the D9X00 gives a DX ISO performance of 2900 or more on DXO Mark and some more pixels so I can crop more, I do not believe I will go for FX.

I found the D800 too expensive in renting, it seems to me I would rather buy second hand and if I do not like it sell again. So I seem to go for buying a D9X00, probably loving it and never going to FX. I would be going from a DXO score of 80 to a around 90 score anyway, would be great for a "pure" hobbyist like me.

I would pay a 1000 dollar premium over a 7100 for a DX body that shoots only Jpegs , and can only use manual non AIS lenses, and not have to be bothered with that silly RAW thingie or precise auto focusing.

I mean, seriously. If you can't get it right in the camera the first time, why even bother?

I don't think you will be spending your $1000 plus...IF the D300 replacement ever eventuates it will have that "Silly Raw Thing" plus oodles frames per second...

Yes, that's why my post is just as silly as the notion that there will ever be a D9300.:)

Raw is the only way brother..I shoot raw and get it right in camera then enhance my shots with all the data I retain..

That sounds interesting! Though I'm on the fence about rather to go to FX, at least for one of my cameras, eventually. If a new pro DX model comes out it may cost more than older FX and that might be what tips the scales for me in favor of the FX.

I'm hoping it's Nikon's first mirrorless Dx, would be great for wildlife. 20fps in AF-C and completely silent.

Why not just say that you do not believe that Nikon Rumors has a good source in Nikon and thus that this is just a random thought of someone.
Strangely this does influence how people plan to invest in next generation material, not even knowing what a D9300 would be.
