Unfortunately the Fuji glass was not that great. I tried 3 different copies and all of them had dust specs inside. I did not bother any further and went back to Nikon. Had the kit lens an 35 mm.

Kind of a similar story that one of my friends did a few years ago- went compact mirrorless instead of good old DSLRs. To my question as to what he does whenever he gets a gig here and there, he said he goes out and rents a DSLR and glass.

Suppose this works for some folks out there, but I prefer to know my gear inside and out and to have my main cam be my best cam no matter what. Renting per job kinda seems like a hassle as well.

I've decided that I will probably just get both. The 800 now, then the fuji (or something similar) for backpacking/local travel sometime in the near future. As Spock would say..."It's only logical". The fact that I crave both for different reasons is enough reason in my mind.

D800 = serious business camera
Fuji/funky little camera = play camera

I actually went with the X-T1 instead. He ended up wanting to keep it. He was very wishy washy about selling it. Can't blame him though.
