D7100 & Sigma

That to me is one of the more interesting aspects of the USB dock that is compatible with the new Global Vision lenses. You can keep updating the lenses so they will work with the newer bodies instead of a situation like this which I doubt will get better with time.

If, not necessarily when, Sigma gets around to issuing a firmware upgrade.

Greetings,

I have just picked up a D7100 and was annoyed that I am unable to hold the -/+ or direction pad to zoom in/out or around in the photos. Lo and behold I too have the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 and can confirm that both the display timeout and image navigation issues exist. On the Sigma website (HERE) I found a note confirming that it is a known issue. I would take a guess that it's not very likely going to be fixed based on the note being included in the compatibility list... grrrrr

*5The light on camera screen will disappear automatically about 1 minute after the total time of OS (Optical Stabilizer) connection and camera setting completion. Additionally, the image won’t continue to enlarge or scroll without pressing the multi-selector button repeatedly.

Not clear in that statement is that once the OS has completely turned off, you are able to use the zoom and direction pad like normal.

First post, how'd I do? lol j/k

Nice site btw!

Ugh! So I have to take that last statement back, after turning off the camera, turning back on and waiting for OS to turn off (~1 minute) it still doesn't work.

It must have been related to me changing the Command and Sub-command dial assignments, but that only works for the powered on session.

Lame.

I would like to warn you about this issue again, yesterday I used LiveView and puted D7100 with Sigma attached back in the bag with Image Review still ON, I thought it will turn off by itself after one minute, as always with this lens attached.

After 45 minutes I opened the bag and LiveView was still ON, battery drained almost 50% and everything very hot, I think camera was around 70 degrees Celsious.
Apparently when I putted camera in the bag, I used Preview vutton while still in LiveView, so after one minute Preview was OFF but it was LiveView that was still ON and it was running for 45 minutes in the bag.

I tested the camera and everything works well, so after I leave it OFF for 15 minutes the temperature was normal again.

Maybe this should be sticky, people should be warned for this issue with this camera/lens combination.
It produces wery good results, but we need to be very careful.

Going bck to the first post I had to sell my 18-200 and 18-270 sigmas as they did not work with the 7100 giveing display problems ,I have not had any problems with the Sig 150-500 or 80-400 .. The replacement 18-140s were much better in terms of IQ
