D7100 image review display

I recently purchased a D7100 with a Sigma 18-250 lens. After taking a picture the image remains permanenetly on the display screen until i touch the shutter button again at which point it goes off.

Thinking this a bit unusual I thought there would be some way of altering this in the menu so the review picture stays on the screen for a second or so ( like most other cameras ive known). I couldnt find anyway of doing this and just assumed this was the way it was.

To confuse me further, I today briefly used a Nikon 50mm 1.8g lens and without altering any settings at all when taking a picture it only stayed on the screen for a short while as i would expect.

very confused . any help / advice would be appreciated ??

it is most likely a firmware conflict caused by the sigma lens. a number of people have had this problem with the d7100 and some, but not all sigma lenses.

As another poster alluded to, there could be an issue with the Sigma lens and the D7100.

When I was doing research into buying the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 DC EX OS HSM, I read quite a bit about the D7100 behaving the way you described. Apparently it had something to do with the camera and the lens having some stuck communication in regard to the OS (VR) on the Sigma lenses. When I was doing some reading about this, most of the posts were from 2013 and 2014, and apparently Sigma has a fix for the issue (at least on the 17-50) that was made back in 2014. Older lenses could be upgraded, so I would imagine if the lens you purchased was new and not sitting on a shelf for a long time it should have the fix. If you purchased it used or it sat on the shelf for a long time, it might need to have the on-lens firmware upgraded. Sigma can do this if you send it in, or apparently there is some kind of USB interface for the lens, but I know nothing about this - probably something pros or camera shops have.

I had the same lens and mine would do this randomly. I'd hit the playback button and it would go away, until it did it again. A bit of an annoyance but I ended up selling the lens (not for this issue).
