D7000 vs D7100

This may come too late, but:

I weighed out the same purchase for months, and with all that time, and all the research... I just couldn't settle with buying the D7000 when the D7100 meant just a small bit of time more spent squirreling away some funds. Yes, the differences between the two added up to me waiting a bit, and every time I'd see a D7000 for sale within my range, I'd research those differences again and talk myself into waiting.

Just a couple more months...

Just one more month...

Just a couple more weeks...

MAN, WHERE IS THAT DELIVERY TRUCK!?

Ahhh... hello, my Primal Beast. How I've been looking forward to this day!

Yup, I think that pretty much sums it up. I honestly think that if you bought the D7000 now, you'd be constantly dealing with those "what if" moments, and it's just not worth it. Not once, though, since getting the D7100 have I ever paused to think, "Gee, maybe I should have gotten the D7000 instead". Of course, that's just my .02, which when factored into the supply/demand ratio and magnified by the imperial fluff factor, is really worth about .0000000000169. Values may change by the moment.

I've had this thought also about getting a D7000 or 7100 but I also wondered about a D600 also cuz I already own two FX lens. I shoot pretty much everything from birds to landscapes , architecture , cars ,etc.

What camera are you shooting now?

As you have seen from all the posts in this thread the D7100 wins hands down.

The choice between the D600 and D7100 is a different story. You would need to find a D600 that did not have the oils problem or that had already been repaired by Nikon.

This might help in deciding Nikon D600 vs D7100 - Our Analysis

Hey Don , I'm shooting with a D3200 . I've read a lot about the D7100 vs D7000 and I"d skip the D7000 . My question about the D600 vs D7100 comes from the view that I like to shoot almost everything and I'd want to get the best camera that would give me the best pictures overall . Some views on the photo forums suggest going straight to a full frame .

Look at the link in my previous post.

I am not sure I would ever trust a D600 but that is just me. We have a number of shooters here that love theirs.

I think i am on record here that I really do not see the need to change over to FX. But your millage my vary.

I'm following you now on Flickr ! LOL . I've made up my mind to get a D7100 after looking at those pictures Don .

I am moving away from Flickr and more to my Facebook Page and website.

i really do love my D7100. I saw the moon tonight and it looked great. I grabbed the d7100 and put the 70-300 on it and went out and took 1 shot handheld.

Having recently been in this decision making situation; go for the D7100. I went the other route myself. The D7000 is a very fine camera, but the 7100 will be superior. I went with the 7000 at the time for three reasons only: got a great steal of a deal, got to move up from the 3200 immediately and give the wife the 3200 to use; I knew that the D7100 prices would be falling drastically again this winter after the D750 and maybe the 7300 is released.

I'll be passing the D7000 on to the misses and giving my son the 3200 within the next couple months.

If I hadn't had extenuating circumstances and had such a deal come my way; I'd have saved a few more months for the 7100 in the beginning. My $.02. YMMV.

My wife had been shooting the D5100 when I was shooting the D7000. I was going to sell the D7000 and let her keep the D5100 but she had other ideas. She loves her D7000 and gets very good results with it.
