Awesome to hear you tracked down the gear!! Good to know there's an honest pawn dealer out there as well. Hope the underlying family issue works itself out.

Sorry to hear the camera was taken by a family member... Glad to hear you got it back! Threaten to turn him over to the authorities unless he goes into rehab... Just a suggestion.

What do his parents have to say about the situation? Sounds like they need to intervene.

His POS dad died of a heroin OD last year. His mom, my wife's daughter, has no control over him. She's had her hands full getting her own life together.

But.....I have my gear back now and all the little bastard took/trashed was 6 SD cards, my GF Lightsphere and some mini tools. Spent the last hour cleaning and testing all my gear.

In addition to all this, my D600 arrived back from Nikon this afternoon, so now I'm back to full strength. Just in time for the weekend and a buddy's 70th birthday party. Get to use his D800 in addition to my kit.

Thanks to all for your kind words.

He's going to jail. He's already on probation for auto theft. We've been through 7 different rehab programs with him and he doesn't want to change, get an education or do any sort of work. Just hang with friends and get high. And steal my stuff and the stuff of others.

The warrant goes out tomorrow and I hope he's locked up by lunchtime. Do I sound bitter? I don't have much tolerance for someone throwing their life away and messing with everyone around them while they do it.

Great news mate about getting the gear back, but have you thought of getting a pet?

Guard Dog Training | Family Watch Dogs | Protection Dogs | Schutzhund Training

Unfortunately, our dogs love him. One of them (Ginger the Mutt) was supposed to be his dog. It's a long story and I'm hoping there's still a small chance of a happy ending. He'll be locked up soon and have plenty of time to get his act together (or learn how to become a better criminal, cause he's pretty stupid).

Bugger, well fingers crossed for him.

Glad you were able to get your gear back.
Far too many families are victims of drugs. Definitely not a victimless lifestyle.
Hope he sees the big picture before it is too late.

Sorry to hear about the family situation! I hope all works out for the best for your step-grandson. Good thing you got your stuff back.

Hell no. He deserves the very worst if he refuses to better himself. Better off in a jail cell for the rest of his life than out in the streets.
