D7000 Body Only or Refurbished?

So, with the price drop for a D7000 Body-only to around $900, is it crazy to look into get a refurbished camera that is priced around $749?

Anyone with good luck getting a refurbished camera?

Shutter count around or below 1,000 shots?

Cosmetic damage that is not regarded as actual camera damage during the repair of the camera to Nikon's specifications?

I'm not opposed to used or refurbished cameras...one is going to put several thousand snaps on one out of the gate probably so big deal. Wanting something brand new is OK too. I bought my D5000 with 5K actuations for half price of new it had one mark where some ding dong had screwed a tripod on to tight but other than that it was nice and has performed without a hitch and still going strong 10-15 actuations later.

I just bought a new D7000 body. I'm one of those people who prefers to get a new camera instead of used or refurbished. I know a refurbished one has been serviced and is supposed to be like new, but that's just me. The advantage of getting a slightly used camera (or anything else for that matter) is that if it's going to fail, the problem has already been found and fixed, hopefully. If it's a matter of budget, go for the refurb, otherwise, I'd go for the new one.

Hi, nikon Europe offers a two year warranty on newly purchased items. Not sure how long a warranty on a refurb is, some are 30 or 90 days. I rather go with the two year peace of mind that if anything goes wrong in that time it should be covered. I sent mine back 1 month before the warranty ran out due to focus issues. They also tightened the mode dial as this is a known issue that it turns to easily.

Cameta is another one with a 1 year warranty. My D7k refurbished had around 450 actuations, not too shabby. It works well with my 43-86 f/3.5 and 28mm f/3.5 manual lenses plus the kit one that came with it.

Well, I decided to get a new one. The price difference was only $150.00 and BHPhoto includes a 16gb Sandisk Extreme Card and Lowepro Toploader 50!

i am now a Nikon owner.
