D610 or d800

I do believe I am going to get the 610. Size isn't an issue nor are the buttons. I need something for low light work. It will compliment my 300s very well. I do believe I can get by with these two for a while. The large files of the 800 seem a bit much. More then likely by next year or two the 300s will be bumped. You never know!!. This way I can save for my faster zoom quicker.

personally, I would highly recommend always buying a camera new. lenses are something else. so many electronics inside. the shutter mechanism is very fragile. its very expensive to fix and costs upwards of $450. and its not a matter if it goes, just when. you know never the history from a person about their camera. shutter clicks says nothing about that. you can look at the body condition but that doesnt say anything because a shutter can fail early or even hold longer than the rated. many camera shutters have failed before its time.

if you do weddings, its just not worth it. for your own piece of mind and your reputation, a new one is always best. I would highly recommend you get mack diamond warranty. its an all risk warranty. for $150 or so you get 3 years coverage and if it fell in the ocean by accident, you would be covered. any unintentional abuse or impact damage is covered. cheap is expensive.

Im very tight with money myself. I bought tons of gear and so I know how hard it is when you buy something and youre scraping pennies. but do it. down the line in a 2 years when youve shot thousands of images on the cameras, that warranty will be the best investment you could have done. I wont tell you (although I am)about a videographer who just bought a canon C100 camera and a waitress at the venue knocked his tripod over with the camera. it not only broke open like a coconut but its a total loss repair wise. lens mount damage with mount and cam bent. and yes, opened like a coconut! you would think its built well, but no, in half, guts spilling everywhere. now hes in a lawsuit with the venue that will last at least 6-7 months and he has to buy a new camera out of his pocket till the judge decides in his favor, or not. and most likely it will be a split. and hes still paying for the old one. luckily for him there were witnesses.

cheap is expensive. mark my words.
