D610 for weddings?

What are u think about d610 for weddings i have own d7000 35mm 1.8 &18-200mm vrII i want to upgrade from dx to fx i am also think d800.. i love my d7000 but i dont like the slow af in low light and backfocus issues... any suggestions? Thanks

I can 't think of any downside. You 'll need to invest with good glass if you intend to become a wedding photographer.

Can't see where the downside is either. Great IQ and low light performance. Who wouldn't want that in a camera capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments?

I think the D610 would be perfect for weddings but yes you need to get some good FX glass to go with it. The D800 can be used for weddings but the workflow with the huge files is a whole 'nother ball game. The D610 files would be much more manageable. The D800 is almost too much camera for weddings because of the sheer amount of images taken on a given day. For one wedding afternoon I had over 60 GB of images from my D800 so it isn't trivial in terms of file management. Just converting them from NEF takes quite a while even with a fast computer. So if you get a D800 plan for $80 per 32 GB 1000x card, faster computer, lots of external multi-terabyte storage, etc. on top of the cost of the camera itself and pro glass.

Ive been considering upgrading to a D610 from my D7100. Ive been shooting weddings and engagement sessions with the d7100 but i think its time for full frame.

I found the AF in my D600 a little lacking in low light / low contrast situations. This is one reason I sold it. The D800 and D300s performed flawlessly in the same conditions.

I'm not knocking the D600 in general as it takes fantastic pictures, but my personal experience did not suggest you would buy it for high performance AF.

Back focusing can be corrected and also a result of the lens and not always the body. My D600 focuses fine with my nikon lenses, but I had to adjust my sigma lens

D610 would be excellent for weddings. Add a few fast primes and you will be amazed by its low light performance. The fact that you can recover quite a lot from the shadows should help a lot when you have to shoot in low light, just meter for the brightest spot and recover the rest of the scene from the RAW file.
