Thanks for the explanation and, given the specs and the quality of the sensor, it is likely a very good choice. I would first handle a camera before purchasing,
but that is a personal decision. I like to feel the camera, its ergonomics, how it fits in my hand. I have purchased two nikons in the past, and have enjoyed using
each. No need to apologize for the 610 being an important number to you and your wife - your choices are your own and we should respect them. Just have
fun. I will add my voice to the chorus suggesting the 50mm lens. It is a terrific lens to work with, and you can move with your feet, adjusting for composition as
your vision dictates. Just have fun, enjoy and let us know how it worked out. The 610 is an expensive camera and i just priced out what i could get in a trade for my
D7000. Decisions about cameras are like decisions about cars - you usually have to live with the decision for a good amount to time. Enjoy and let us know about your thoughts about the 610 as you get accustomed to using it. You may help me make my decision!
