D600 issue on long exposure

I had my field testing today and using the viewfinder cover I shot 30s exposures and not a single evidence of light.

I tried a Nikon 16-35mm and a 24-70 2.8 Sigma and both performed well.

A couple long exposures, first with a 16-35 - An industrial pier on the Tsgus river - the second with a 24-70 HSM 2.8 Sigma . Lisbon historic center seen from the south side of the river.
