D5300 70-300mm lens

The point is that unless your are very lucky all your images will be front or back focused ..ie not in true perfect focus.
Everyone who puts a long lens on a camera for bird photography or similar knows that correct fine focus adjust is essential ...ok you could be lucky and find you don't need it but what percentage is that ?

You were lucky with your 5100/lens combo. I had a 3300 /150-600 tamron .Perfect match but the 3300 had a problem and the new replacement was not such a good match in terms of fine focus adjust ....LUCK..I usually focus and then pull the lens back 2 inches in the hide. A G2 would be adjustable with the base to match any nikon
