D5100 sharpness issue

In my experience so far the soft focus has only been a problem in low light. In good light I have no problems getting sharp pics. When researching what to buy it was noted in many reviews that the D5100 was weak in low light situations.

I have had great success in low light with the D5100. I have even shot in caves with good results. Don't be afraid to jack up the ISO to get the shutter speed you need. Some noise is better than a blurry or no photo. Take a look at these

Thanks Don for the link. Now I'll be busy for awhile. LOL

Not to imply that you can't take great pics, just noting that in a lot of the reviews I read it noted the weakness in low light. As you show, it just means you have to take a little more effort.

I'm still hit and miss. ;)

I use my D5100 to take shots at the local rock night and I don't have many issues, and that's dark as anything! There is the odd occasion where it struggles to focus, but under the conditions I think it does a cracking job.
