I am going to give extra information here for future readers.
Nikon does have a webcam utility for free. It only supports limited DSLR models, D3400 is not supported. But the D3500 is. https://www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/webcam-utility.page
All is not lost for your D3400, but the solution I know about may not be as good as you are hoping for. DigiCamControl does have a virtual webcam utility that they don't feature much on their website. But the software is there to download still. https://digicamcontrol.com/blog/dccwebcam

I assume you've searched Nikon's web site for the solution? What have you done that doesn't work?
thank you. i have tried digi cam control, but it doesnt work with apps like zoom. if you have experience using digicamcontrol, could you guide me how to use it with zoom if possible?
The application on nikon's website doesnt work with my camera, i have tried alternative method like digicamcontrol
