Day #110 Apr. 19

Today I had an unscheduled photo shoot. After it was done, I failed to get the name of the client. Hopefully someone may recognize them and clue me in.
I don't think it is a Say's Phoebe

I'm leaning more toward a Western Kingbird

check out a Wieds Crested Flycatcher??

Ash-throated flycatcher; excellent shots

And then there is the Dusky-capped Flycatcher...

How do you determine which is which? I do think now, after looking at pictures online, that it probably is an Ash-Throated Flycatcher.

Once again the Merlin APP (iPhone) let me down. It didn't offer any of these as options for date, place, color and size. It does have them in the data base to look at if you have a clue as to what you are looking for. Ha!

Thanks

The third one is just a cool shot Walt... Looks like the bird is going to auger in. An no... I have NO clue as to what KIND of bird that is... it is a bird right?

Thanks Danno. It was the only one of MANY in flight shots that was half way in focus. Dove are easy to shoot (w/camera) in flight compared to these guys. Ha!

Top is the wieds below is the ash, according to Audubon field guide, the head to me looked like the wieds, but wev id me the ash before, so maybe these are just bad images in the book? Its tough to id birds.

sent from Pandora's 'Mr Bean' blue lagoon.

I read that the Ash-throated has paler underbelly and rusty brown tail feathers.
The Dusky-capped has darker underbelly and lacks the rust color. So, I think @wev knows his birds.

Apparently, their calls help tell them apart as well.

Nice Moon shot Walt. Good one of the Turkey Buzzard too.... you gotta be careful and not stand still for very long. :)

lunch time?? lol

This is funny because I was on one of my daily walks when it came over. After I took the shot, the thought of how I was going post it and what I was going to say. The idea was to say, "I found a good way to get shots like this. I just lay down and play dead and they will fly over and I can get the shot." Ha!
