Took a trip out to "Whitewater Draw" hoping to get a chance to use the new D500.
The water level was very low, so not much in the way of birds.

Here are some of the first shots with the D500. Unfortunately,
I had the camera set wrong and only got .jpg files saved. I always use .NEF.
Oh well, it still worked out (sort of).

You find the strangest things on the back roads.

No one was around, but it appeared that this truck and the dead cow
under the tree met in a not so friendly meeting. It appeared to have
been a day or two or more since it happened. It would be nice to know
what the real story
is.

I actually think you should have submitted this one. I like it.

Brent, I had planned on something like this, but didn't think I would have time to get it all set up, etc. so went with what I had. As it was, this one wasn't done until after submission time. Ha!!

I made this slingshot about 60 years ago. It is Bodark (Osage Orange) and originally
the rubbers were surgical tubing. Later on after my source for surgical tubing dried up,
I started buying wrist rocket rubbers. Some good memories. It is a wonder I am still
alive and have both eyes as we loved having "war" with the slingshots. Fun in the country!

Travelling to Tucson, I came upon a field fire on the side of the road. I stopped to try to keep it from spreading too
far and my wife called 911. Long story short the FD came and finished knocking the fire I was fighting down. They
then took off saying there was a bigger fire a couple of miles up the road. No pictures of the fire I was fighting, but
did get a couple of the other fire. I figure they were both started by a trailer's safety chains dragging on the road and
sending off sparks. Not good as dry and windy as it has been.
