My Grandmother's sewing machine. It needed some parts, but I got it working.

I think my Grandmother purchased this one in the very early 1950's. She pieced together a lot of quilts with it as well as lap pads, etc for disabled vets. She couldn't see well, so she always called on me to thread the needle for her. Ha! I repaired a lot of my own clothes with it when I was young and very hard on clothes. Ha!my mum had one just like this, made us lots of shirts on it, that was her job, bought home the patterns from work and bought material. Some were fine others were a little flashy. lol

Can you make soap from them?
My Grandmother had one of these she used until she quit sewing. During the Depression, she made my dad and his brothers clothes out of feed sacks with it. Her quilts were made out of any scrap she could find. Grandma threw nothing away.June 10, 2017
