If you notice the bare mountain tops in the background, it was due to one of the Wallow Fire. It was the largest forest fires in Arizona which occurred in 2011 and burned over 530,000 acres. The fire was travelling rapidly toward the camp when the wind shifted and all was spared except some melted plastic water storage tanks and one building where the lodge is now located. It was a miracle for the camp serving the youth.
Shooting benches we built for the shooting range that will be construct at the camp. Eight total for now.
More shots of the burned in relationship to the spared Forrest. In the last photo you can see the lodge if you look closely behind the trees. There was an old building there that the board of the camp was trying to decide whether to tear it down to build the new lodge or to build around it. The fire took out the old building so the decision was made for them. Ha!
