Criteria when selecting for your next lens

If I was shooting professionally and have models to shoot, I might consider it. If I buy that lens and don't have any subjects to shoot, the lens will have minimal use, thus making it not practical just like with my other lenses that have been on idle in my camera bags.

I find myself being critical of what I own, If I don't use it, I'm not gonna have money sitting in a bag. 6-7 lenses I will use regularly is all I'll have/keep.

I like to choose my focal length and application first. From there, i shop around, narrow it down to a few, read reviews on them all, narrow it down more, go and test it, buy it. Better if it has a rebate :)

That would be around March time frame when it comes to Nikon. They've been very consistent with their camera and lens rebates unless you are good with a used item.
