My question is why would anyone pop that kind of money for a lens when you are not sure it's something you are going to like?

I can understand purchasing maybe a D800 with a basic lens but a what is it......an $8000 plus or minus lens?

Wow. Probably if you looked real hard you could even buy all new for less.

Wow, what a dreamer. No one is dumb enough to pay retail prices for used equipment. Unless he drops a couple grand off the top he's going to be long term friends with his Nikon gear.

B&H has a 30 day return policy. You'd think you'd know if you like something by then. Also, his $11K asking price is lame. $335 off LIST? And, unless you live in New York, there is no sales tax.

Occasionally I find some great buys, but there are so many unrealistic prices also. I wouldn't consider anything used over 2/3 the price of new.

I've found great buys as well. Such as my 70-200 2.8 VRII for $1400. Mint shape with all accessories. 2 years prior, an 80-200 2.8D ED for $450, also mint. Sold the 80-200 for $650 when I bought the 70-200. On Craigslist, like in life, it pays to know what you're doing.

I've found good stuff on craigslist, but that deal, isn't much of a deal. The lens is around 8k, and the camera is right around 3k. To me, I'd rather spend the extra 200 and make sure that I got a warranty, and get it from a reputable store. The filter, battery.. don't do much for me.
