Computer Mouse/mice for photography software

Hey guys and gals, it has been a while since I posted but I need the opinion of experts again:

My trusty optical mouse has finally stopped working. I have been comfortable with this mouse for a long time. It has ridges cut into it from the acid in my hand.

This morning I started looking online and figured I would run and pick up a new mouse but there are lots of changes in the mouse technology. Do you all use OPTICAL or LASAR? If you use Lasar do you turn down the settings?

I need a mouse by tonight so anything you can share today would be greatly appreciated!

Another vote for the Logitech M510. This mouse is rock solid and has lasted beyond expectations. Occasional dust removal from the sensor and all is good. With the laser models, you will notice a reduction in response when the sensor needs a blast of air or Q-tip cleaning.

Got used to laptop trackpad, but otherwise I have some stock Dell one I got from our stockpile of extras. I used to swear by Kensignton back in the gaming days, and that's far more demanding application than photoshop sliders.

This may be a little off-topic but it is pointer-related... I had gotten used to the trackpad on my MacBook so when my desktop mouse died last year, I found this little gem and have been using it happily ever since. It works just like a multi-touch trackpad but also has a built-in stylus and it's very accurate and small enough to easily fit where my mouse pad used to sit. The one I picked up is USB as I have no reason to need a wireless device... though there is a wireless version for just a few $$$ more.

I've been using a wired Logitech G5 for about 7 years that refuses today and has a weight cartridge that can be dialed in with the exact amount of weight you want your mouse to have, which is just the best mouse I've ever used. I won't get rid of it until it absolutely goes kaput.

I used to work straight off a glass surface so I used the Logitech Performance MX that did well on all sorts of reflective surfaces. I really liked the ergonomics as well. I switched to a corded mouse recently and now use the Razer Deathadder 2013. Nice and precise but not so many bells and whistles.
