Helicon Focus Pro seems to be the all-in-one solution for me. Downloading the Remote and Focus elements separately to test (they're rolled up in Focus Pro).

Well, that was fun! This was a quick tethered picture:

And here is a render of some 100 stacked photos. Rough I know, but I can see the potential (the first (above) taken with Helicon Remote, the second with Remote and auto-focus bracketing, transferring to Focus to render)

Second attempt, around 30 shots stacked. This time I played around with the software a bit (changing ISO, smoothing, emphasis, etc.)

Just downloaded DigiCam and really pleased with it. Seems to do all I want and more, but a lot of learning to do.
