Clovis' Nikon Nuggets 2026

Went back to Magnolia this morning. It was so humid I probably should have brought a Nikonos. I was a little disappointed that the large retention pond was lowered, which concentrates the fish and attracted the fledgling egrets away from the lake at the rookery. Last weekend, I got some great shots at the rookery. Ended up with a handful of decent shots.

Photography has taken a back seat the last couple weeks. My wife fell and broke her hip the middle of last month. She is doing quite well, much better, in fact, than she did a couple years ago when she broke the other one. Anyway, I decided to try my hand at feeding the birds again. Keeping those greedy little tree rats out of the feeders is tough. Anyway, a couple weeks in and I'm starting to see a lot of traffic, although the hummingbird feeder only seems to get one male. He does come back about every 5 - 10 minutes, but doesn't stay long. After getting my wife settled, I can sneak out back and try my hand with backyard birds for a half hour or so. Just to keep my hand in the photography thing until she gets a little more self sufficient.

Hope your wife heals fast!
Thanks. Like I said, this go round it is going much better than the other hip. She did well enough after surgery to skip in patient rehab. Previously she spent a couple weeks in a rehab facility. (No, not THAT kind of rehab!) They've come a long way with hip replacements. It probably helped that this time she had the surgery the same day as the break. She has had very little pain with this replacement.
