I never found that I ever needed 1/2500th of a SS for BIF. I keep mine at 1/1600th for BIF and with static birds.Rich do what i do walk with camera on F8 or 9 SS at 2500 in case of flight.Auto Iso if you find static bird next 4 clicks your at 1000 SS

I never found that I ever needed 1/2500th of a SS for BIF. I keep mine at 1/1600th for BIF and with static birds.
This way if I'm shooting a bird standing still and it decides to take off, Im good to go without even taking my eye off the viewfinder.
Maybe if I was shooting hummingbirds I would increase the Ss, but birds like the ones at the CBBR, 1600th works for me.
