Working on the soft water effect, learned a few things on this outing. Appreciate any comments, Will have another shot in my weekly thread. Thanks for looking!

Very nice, Rick. This is definitely one of your best shots. I think this one falls a little short of being a wall-hanger for a few reasons:

1) The crop seems a bit off. My eyes detect something at the top of the falls, and I'm left wondering what it is.

2) I think the shutter speed is a tad slow. There's some great motion blur here, but at least to me, it's a little much.

3) Lack of tonal range. If you're going to do a scene like this in B&W, there needs to be a lot of contrast to help show depth and substance. This would've made an excellent HDR choice.

Thanks Anthony! and you're dead on with the crop. I wanted more of the top, especially a cool tree that was up there. My problem was the sun was at the upper right and blew out everything on top. Also, the entire scene was shaded. I hope to get back next weekend, early in the morning, at that time the sun will be behind me. I'll be experimenting more with shutter speed next time and I think having the sun behind me, illuminating the entire gorge, will solve the tone/contrast issue

Yeah, Anthony beat me to it on the crop. That's the thing that ruined it for me. Still a very nice shot, but maybe in HDR it would "pop". Light is everything, isn't it? :)

I like the water blur just as it is. It seems to be enough to show the motion, but not enough to become "cream" like. I understand the other crits, but this is just my own take. Wall hanger to be sure.
