$90 would be giving away a decent 55-200 f/4-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR. The less desirable (IMO) Nikon 55-200 f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX not so much at that price.
Like Eyelight says, be sure you know what you're buying before plunking down your dinero.

Not for every shot, but it can help you shoot with a slower shutter speed than one without VR. Slower shutter can allow a smaller aperture, so just gives you more options on most shots. But if working at slow shutter speed, a VR lens might allow a shot that a non-VR lens could not make and stay sharp.

I don't use it all the time, but when I want it, I think it's a damn good thing to have. Then too, opinions vary...

I think it will be fine since I will be using this lense mostly for sports in which a high shutter speed is needed. I have my 18-55 and my 35mm for other things and my 18-55 has vr

There is one on Providence Craigslist for $130. My LCS has one mint with box for $200.
So yeah you have a sweet price, the OP should have been all over it.
KEH tho is $115-$130 for VR depending on condition. I overpaid for my non VR from a local wedding photog who is crazy careful with his gear and had taken stellar images with the lens.....it is a very nice copy.
