1. Bought and installed Windows 8.1 over Windows 7

2. Bought and installed Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 bundle for $9.99/month.

3. Bought and installed the Nik Collection software. (found a 15% off promo code online.)

4. Ordered 4Gigs of Ram from Newegg to Max out my computer to 8 Gigs.

I had Lightroom 5.3 and the Nik Tools before, installed in an not so legal way before. Lately I've been thinking about adding PSCC to the mix, and decided to go the honest route. I figure 10 bucks a month is not going to brake me.

Problem was that I had to get rid of every trace of the not so legal copy of LR on my computer. At first I thought about just re-installing Win7, but then I remembered that a few years ago when Win8 was in Beta, I downloaded the free version and I really liked it. Once it has expired I just went back to Win7.

So, I figured what the hell, let me give Win 8.1 a try. I am pleasantly surprised how fast and smooth it is.
As soon as I get my RAM from Newegg my post processing will be so much faster.
As it is, it's much improved already with the legal copies of LR ,PSCC and the Nik Tools.

Nice upgrades all the way around! In my opinion there's no such thing as too much RAM; Win8.1 will thank you for it and I wouldn't want to do much in PS without that much RAM at least. Get a few layers open, start running some filters and you'll be glad you have it.

I'll admit to having hoisted the pirate flag a time or ten in my deeply checkered and mostly squandered youth but it seemed I always wound up paying something (usually in aggravation) when skirting the licensing. At some point I just caved and went full legit.
