Cavalier attitude of Nikon

It's more likely that your local shop is giving you the run around on things.... They only send one D3300 to Australia once every three weeks? Yeah, ok.... I believe that, BAHAHAHAA.
The OP wants a RED D3300. It is probably in low demand so Nikon doesn't make that many of them.

However a more accurate delivery estimate could have been expected from Nikon Australia.

I didn't have it with my cams yet but when ordering lenses that aren't in stock, I never got a better answer than "probably somewhere in..."

It's annoying but not Nikon exclusive, I got that answer with Sigma and Tamron too.

The last time I got a story like that from a retailer, they went out of business a few months later. They claimed a shortage of D7000 cameras (the hot camera at the time), and they were having trouble getting them, so we went home and ordered one immediately from B&H or Adorama, and had no problem getting it; in fact, every online merchant seemed to have plenty in stock.

I believe Nikon sales are cavalier in their attitude to their customers and are not likely to last much longer as a manufacturer with that sales attitude. You may all soon have historic collectables!!! Angry? You bet!!!!

Canon is becoming more obsolete with their semi-pro lineup (no one will get that 50mp thing for practical use), their pro 1Dx is still MUCH more expensive than D4s, and beginner line-up lacks quality/feel compared to Nikon and Pentax.

Pentax straight-up gave semi/pro audience the finger.

Nikon keeps on feeding the industry. Sooooo...... lets be real here, YOU buying just 1 beginner body and 2 cheap lenses and nothing else for years won't feed them, thus you're not really a priority to them (at least over there in AU). When you start getting FX bodies and 2-3k lenses, you'll see all the customer service you'll require at that point.

Plus they waste time making cameras that almost no-one will buy like that 4Million ISO camera they just announced that costs 30 grand.

I can no longer go to a car dealer and get Exactly what I want in options. Manufactures make runs of products, they are probably trying to find an idle unit to move to your retailer. Happens all the time with vehicles, unless you buy the mainstream offering (black) you get lucky or wait.
