I agree it's pretty f***** up. They're just doesn't seem to be a better option than the CS. it had the best of all things. I don't know, I will take a look today, but I'm under the assumption that I will not find what I am truly searching for.

Try eBay. Maybe someone has a strap they are selling.

Well i guess CS now won't have any option but to refund your money.
So you could order one off ebay.. there are a number of genuine sellers with what model you want
I wouldn't buy anything from BR after this for sure

Nah, I'm locked in to spend the money at that particular shop unfortunately. That's their way. Shoot, I suppose I'm somehow lucky that they didn't just deny my request to return it, although it was faulty. That quick adjust didn't ever stay put no matter how much weight was applied to it, it just slowly loosened all the way no matter what I tried. Well, that's what I get for waiting *JUST over the return period because I had to go travel for work. Ebay would be nice, though I have that shoot to do on Tuesday and need a strap before then..

Also, agreed. Best design I've ever seen though. Shame on BR for being asses, honestly. I MIGHT buy one of their straps if it serves my purposes, but I still think they're overpriced for what you get and I would be doing so reluctantly right now.

Interesting info today.

I called the store to see if my straps had come in. He informed me that Carry Speed had been issued a cease and desist by Black Rapids for copy-write infringement. This also affects any distributors that are involved as well as Amazon. He doesn't know if Joby will suffer the same, but the CS site is down and until they can resolve any issues CS straps won't be offered in the USA. Bummer! What a sweet design, too. I miss it already. This is weak, because now I have to revert to a BR strap that screws directly into the base of the camera instead of having an easy way to disconnect it to use on a tripod. Wow.

So now I'm off to the store in a few hours to see what kind of straps BR/Joby has to offer. Suggestions welcome.

Amazon has them listed through 3rd party sellers some of which are fulfilled by Amazon.

I know. But you missed the part where I was complaining that my store wouldn't credit the money directly back onto my card instead of issuing store credit. I was locked into their business with no way of getting out unless I used that money for something else. Which I didn't feel like doing at the moment. Well, maybe on those new D610's that came in yesterday :p

I ended up getting the exact same one today for lack of options. The SAME EXACT one. It hadn't even sold yet since I returned it! Oddly, the quick release issue wasn't showing itself when I was trying it back on in the store, even with a 70-200 attached. Strange stuff..
*Sigh. I suppose I'll live with the weirdo plate. They do sell the plate alone on Amazon, but it's some ridiculous price, maybe $35 or $40, I can't remember. I'll wait until they revise it and check them back out then, probably pick another up and sell this one at some point down the line.

Anyway, for he who asked for photos and to better explain myself, here's a pic of the tripod plate connected to the camera with the CS plate on: IMG_20131019_172837.jpg

I'm very tempted to order the CS strap from amazon and return it, just taking the baseplate for myself :p

I ended up returning the old strap to Amazon and keeping the new one. Had little choice in the matter, but I'm pretty happy with the better design. So glad I was able to acquire one before I literally couldn't any longer. Who knows how long CS will be out of commission?

I definitely won't be buying from black rapid any more. I supported them when they were just a startup in Seattle Washington. I thought their mount design is weak anyway, but it was ok for lightweight camera bodies and smaller lenses. Because of this chicken shit action on black rapids part I won't be recommending them as an option anymore

You wouldn't think it was chicken shit if someone infringed on your copyright.

I don't know the details obviously but will wait until we know the facts.

The only reason I say that is for the fact that when Black Rapid, started up, another company, Sun Sniper, was selling the same design. Black Rapid didn't go after them. But someone comes up with a better and more secure design and they go after them. Thats all I am saying...
Joby, Op/Tech, Luma Cinch and probably others use this same strap design and I don't hear Black Rapid going after them.
As far as patent... Sun Sniper is a lot closer to the same design, strap design and plate, than the rest
