Carry Speed straps rock!

Finally got to try the strap and I must say the title of the thread is perfect. It really rocks.. can hardly full any stress carrying all that gear..

Got a couple of questions though..
Is it possible to quickly remove and attach the strap from the mounting plate at the connection point- the ball head setup for use on tripod?

And secondly as neither the d5100 or the d7000 comes with a battery grip, attaching the plate so the ball head thingy points forward is not possible as it touches the lens in any situation.. have to have it pointing backwards..

I'm not sure I understand your first question..
The tripod plate is supposed to be attached to the carry speed's mounting plate so that all you need to do is remove the strap and mount your camera onto the tripod. The little holes all over the place on the plate are for integration with various different placements and designs of tripod plates.

In response to your second inquiry, I believe the design is meant to point backward. At least, that's how I used it. I suppose you could do either way, but I find the camera falls better on the hip if it's 'backward'.

Ahck, maybe I mis spoke there.

It should go like this during install:

Camera connects to baseplate for CS Strap. Tripod plate connects to CS Baseplate. Strap connects to it's own dedicated 'ball' assembly (the silver thingie)

That way, you just undo the strap attached to the ball assembly on the CS Baseplate, and your CS Baseplate AND your attached tripod plate are already on your camera, ready to use.

Hopefully that makes more sense, lol..

Or, maybe you don't even have to disconnect the strap for your tripod to work with it's plate. Mine didn't require me to, but I did need to put it in a specific direction because of the extending silver ball.

I wish I had one around before tuesday/wednesday. I'd make a video of it to show what I'm on about! :)
That would probably be a lot easier to understand.

I'm still waiting on mine. Had to return mine due to my ball preference and possible issue with the quick adjust. It should be Wednesday at latest though and I'll post pics then.

Horrible news. They apparently won't be getting the shipment for another two weeks. Irks me so much because I would have it by now if they simply refunded my cash. I would have gotten on amazon and ordered it straight away. Seems like they just want the money staying in their till.

All you folks using these straps that one day will FAIL. I hope you all have insurance on your gear. Being in the insurance business I have seen a number of cameras & lens destroyed all the big 3 manufactures are guilty. Just saying.....

Can you elaborate on how they failed?

Mostly the connection from the camera to the strap - honestly I had bought a Black Rapids strap thought the world of it until Hawaii 3 years ago just about destroyed my D300 & 24-70 2.8 the connector broke - good thing it on fell on floor of the tour bus we were on.

That's the black rapid... They had a bad design at the connector. I've never had a problem with carry speed. Can you share experience with this strap failing?

Well I hope you don't have any problems.

I haven't in 5 years with carry speed. I have with black rapid.
But seriously, you posted this problem in a carry speed topic and stated you are in insurance. I'd really like to know what problems you have had either personally or by your clients with the carry speed strap?

Lol. I think the poster is a bit confused. Perhaps he read on an internet forum that this happened maybe one time. (Probably due to negligence on the owners' behalf.) The design of the attachment on the CS is pretty bombproof if you ask me.
