Carry Speed straps rock!

Ok, I was able to return it. They didn't have any other ones in stock though they said in a week's time they'd be around to poke at. Problem though, I wanted to just order on amazon and they gave me store credit instead! Way to lock me in to buying there :p.

But, at least I will get that nice baseplate. I still need to figure out if the thicker strap is really worth an extra $30 or weather the 'slim' version is good enough.

In other interesting news, they stopped carrying the D600. They hinted that something else was on order but wouldn't divulge any further details. They literally wouldn't sell me the camera today. They gent said, "You're going to be happy you waited a little longer, trust me."
Hmmmm..

Well, I'll think on it. I was hoping for a wider spacing of AF points honestly. that would have been perfect even with a sketchy shutter.. Damn, why did they have to do that? I feel limited even though I don't already own one! Do you find it an issue at any time?

Not really. I can lock focus outside the limitations and recompose. But most of the time what I'm focusing on is within focus points. Before the d600, I really wanted the illusive d400. People asked why I didn't go with the d800. Money was the big point. So I settled with the d600 and I'm happy with that.

Only rumors so far on the "D610" specs, but it would have to have something significant to make me upgrade. But if I didn't already have the D600, I'd be happy to get the next version!

As far as the thicker strap- The regular one is fine, but with the D600 and a heavy lens it is at it's limit for my use.

And I was on the phone with a Nikon supervisor within the hour. I specifically asked if Nikon was going to allow current D600 owners to trade in their cameras and pay a little extra towards the replacement model. His response? Nothing has been released about any upcoming model, but if there were to be some type of trade in thing, he said sometimes the big stores like B&H offer that. Yeah. Yeah. I know. He can't say anything at all. :(

They made it pretty clear that they (my local camera store guys) weren't filling any more inventory with D600s. That to my ears means that Nikon said something and they pulled stock of them. They didn't even have any left in the store at all..

That, paired with his comment about 'waiting it out' makes me think there's something coming down the pipe, perhaps a quiet release of the 610 or whatever..

I highly doubt that your salesman has heard directly from Nikon about an unannounced camera body yet. I'm thinking they just don't have any bodies in at the moment and need an excuse. I don't think Nikon has given an unofficial heads up to any camera store in the past.. unless its like B&H or Adorama.. and even those stores I highly doubt it.

Something is always better in a few months, for better or worse!
Is that your signature or were you trying to say something about a 4200e..?

i still think there's something coming. shh, don't tell anyone
At least, I keep telling myself that so I don't buy a D600 impulsively.

I'm waiting on my dealer's shipment next week. I am doubtfully hoping for an updated design with some kind of lock for the quick adjustment feature. They are rumored to be working on a solution, but I'm not giving my hopes up, lol. Just cannot decide on the fs slim or regular size strap still!

Enjoy the strap!
