Hi everybody. I have always had a knot in my stomach and have finally realised what it is....canon is corrupting my very being.
So the canon gear has all gone and my new Nikon D7000 is on its way. I dont even have it yet and I feel much better.

I am a Nikonite....and proud!

Oh by the way my name is Lee and I come from Yorkshire.

I was shooting canon for many years, I switched to Nikon 2 weeks ago for the D800E and the D4. Canon just werent cutting it with resolution, or features.

Nikon is the way to go.

If Nikon doesn't address a real replacement for the D300 relatively soon (D400 anyone?), there may be more Canon shooters down the road.

The longer Nikon waits to replace the D300, the more folks will consider other options IMHO. Without a clear high-performance DX path, if I am going to be forced to move to FX to get the features that I want that opens up other systems to consideration. I've used by brother-in-law's 6D and it is very nice. As an amateur, the 5D Mark III seems to be a more reasonable choice than the D800 - even at a higher cost.

I've also played around with mirrorless (having owned both a Nikon V1 and a m4/3 body) and certainly the Olympus OM-D is a consideration. Micro 4/3'rds has an amazing amount of great glass available. And Sony is certainly a player with the NEX system.

So for right now, I'm willing to wait for a bit.

Honestly, I see a D400 possible. However, with the D800, D800E, and the D4 all having the ability to shoot in DX modes. I am unsure if this is a possibility. What about the D7000?

Nikon Rumors say that the 7200 might be coming out this spring. So I guess we'll have to wait and see. But I do think that a 24mp into a D300 body would sell like hot cakes.

But sometimes these big companies managements think differently.

I've looked extensively at the D7000 but don't consider it a replacement / upgrade for the D300. I'm not necessarily stuck on DX either - purchasing FX to shoot DX doesn't seem like a good investment. The DX price to performance ratio has met my needs well. I think Nikon hit a homerun with the D700 / D300 combination and would love to see a D800 / D400 pairing. I'd also be very happy if the D400 was 16-24 Mp.

With some reluctance, I am considering selling my 7000 and moving to Canon - 6D or 5D mark iii. FUll frame intrigues me, but the problems with the D600 - dust, oil - disturb me. SO, i am mulling over what to do.

Be careful the 6D is a piece of crap. The 5D mark III is not very good in my opinion either. I spent a few hours shooting on it the other day. The shutter sounds like aluminum popping, the auto focus is not as intelligent as the D800, and its light and cheap plastic feeling. Its very flimsy feeling. After holding my D800E again the difference is huge. LCD on the top has very small font, and it takes forever to adjust auto focus points, and its $500 dollars more than the D800 which is far superior in every way.

As far as the D600 and its issues, most of the new shipments dont seem to this issue. Nikon warranty service will fix this completely if you do happen to get one like that. I used to own a 5D mark II and 7D, and I can say that you wont find the same performance from canon that you get from Nikon.

Just a heads up thats all.
