Camera Pollution?

It's just marketing, and frankly, I don't mind have a lot of choices.

Even if I feel some of the choices are silly, or superfluous, so what?

More choice is more gooder in my opinion.

I guess some of these people would be happy going back to one phone company? I guess they need to vent.

What they don't discuss is the primary driver of this cycle; the consumer. So many consumers are waiting for the next model of camera to arrive not to purchase it, but for its arrival in the market to drive the price of the prior model down so they can get a "bargain".

As far as the new model not giving them that much new, their older model didn't either. In fact, they likely aren't using the full capabilities of any camera they've owned.

The good thing for us though is that you can pick up an 'old' model on the cheap soon after release as they are concentrating on the new one!

if they only brought out a new model every 3-4 years it would mean high prices on the existing models for a lot longer.

im happy to let people pay a premium for the very latest stuff - I'll get more for my money by waiting a few months.

Unfortunately, there is a catch: companies are "concentrating" themselves on TOO MANY models, so they sacrifice a supervision. That is called "the lousy quality control of the production". This trend is very, VERY noticeable lately... Now, some people will say "well, what do I care, my camera is covered by guarantee". Yes, but at the end of the day, you realize that instead of going out and taking photos, you've sent your camera to the repair shop because the "money-back" period has passed etc. etc. ...

I suppose that could be true.

That's another bonus of waiting though, let others test it to death and you can make an informed decision based on real-world experiences.

Computers have been this way for the last 15-20 years. Pretty much as soon you walk out the shop with the 'latest most advanced' model, there's a newer better one released.
