Buying a D5100 next week....need suggestions

buy the body and lens separately

Why? The cost of a body and eg. kit lens is more than buying them as a bundle.
Most bundles are cheaper than separate purchases

My thoughts exactly

d5100 body: $450
18-55mm lens: $200
55-300 lens: $400

Total price separate :1050
Total price bundled: 800

1/ get the D3200
2/ get the idea of two lenses out your head ...carry them ..time to change them and getting dirt in the camera. always got the wrong lens on the camera

300 mm on a DX is 450 mm ...is it a VR or are you buying /carrying a tripod as well .....

See if you can pick up a UHS-1 card instead - it shouldn't be that much more than a bog standard class 10 card, but the speed increase is worth it

Yes, there is something wrong with that order. Better get at least two lenspens since you'll be losing them all the time. You'll also come to find out that they're worth their weight in gold.

Oh, and do be sure to upload a few pics a week for us to stare at once you're over there!!
