Are you in very low light conditions with a low ISO? If so, your shutter speed may be displaying 3 or 2.5 seconds.

Welcome! Sounds like you are set for a very slow shutter speed. Try turning the rear command dial.

Those displays are indicating a three-second, and a two-and-a-half second exposure, respectively.

First off, howdy and welcome to Nikonites!!!

As @Needa mentioned, sounds like the last time this camera was used in shutter priority mode, the shutter was set for long exposure ... 2.5 to 3 seconds long. Easy enough to change, the rear command dial will adjust the shutter speed.

I was confused by that too. Typically, the double quote denotes seconds of arc rather than seconds in time. Maybe that is common for other countries.
